LGBTQ Equality:

Some of the most incredible people in my life as members of the LGBTQ community. This is something that I will continually advocate for. The LGBTQ community won the battle with marriage, but there’s still a long way to go, and with the current political climate, there are more hurdles to overcome than ever.

The Human Rights Campaign is an amazing organization that I’m a member of. If you’re looking for a way to help advocate, this is a great place to start.

GLAAD is a other great organization. A lot of their work focuses on the messaging we see in society in relation to LGBTQ individuals. I personally love their Southern Stories initiative, because that region is one where a drastic culture change is needed to stop unfair and unjust persecution of LGBTQ individuals.

Freedom From Religion:

American Humanist Association is something I’m a member of and love. This organization works to keep church separate from state, encourages the advancement of science and embracing it as factual, and strives to encourage people to be compassionate and accepting of one another.

Disability Rights/Community Integration:

My day job is in social services, supporting and advocating for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I could probably list at least 50 different resources here, but I’ll narrow that down, lol. Not going to provide a lengthy description for each, but will highlight ones I work with.

American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) I am a member of ANCOR through my agency. They do a TREMENDOUS amount of advocacy work on a national scale, and work to help providers give staff training and tools to do their jobs well and enhance the lives of the people they support.

Association of Residential Resources in Minnesota (ARRM) I am also a member of ARRM through my agency, and involved in grassroots advocacy on a local level with them. Not only do they provide resources for residential providers in Minnesota, they also do LOTS of advocacy work at the state level, and involve clients in the advocacy efforts.

National Disability Rights Network (NDRN)

American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD)

National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) Another agency I’m a member of through my workplace. This group is dedicated to supporting direct care staff, who are the backbone of the disability service industry.

Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN)

Autistic Reality This is an advocacy firm run by a friend of mine who is autistic. Alec is an incredible advocate and an inspiration.
